Sadık Ardıç is a medical doctor and a specialist in chest diseases. He completed his medical degree at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and then completed his specialization in chest diseases at the same university. During his training, he gained experience in procedures such as pleural biopsy, thoracoscopy, rigid and flexible bronchoscopy. He was assigned to the Chest Diseases Department of Anadolu University for mandatory service and actively participated in the establishment of this department. He received his associate professorship at this university in 1990.
He established the Department of Chest Diseases at İnönü University in 1991 and worked there for one year before going to the United States for training in sleep disorders. He worked with Prof. Dr. İsmet Karacan, one of the first five scientists to establish sleep medicine in the world, at the Baylor College Of Medicine, Sleep Disorders Center in Houston, Texas. After returning to Turkey, he became the first physician to work on sleep disorders as a chest diseases specialist. He has been working within the Turkish Sleep Medicine Association with other specialists in various fields since 1993 to ensure the widespread and scientifically grounded treatment of sleep disorders. He provides formal education on sleep medicine within the framework of the association.
He founded the Turkish Thoracic Society School and organized Winter Schools, Professional Development Courses, and Central Courses. He participated in courses such as endobronchial treatment with bronchoscopy, tobacco and cigarette control courses, and epidemiology courses and obtained certificates. He served as an administrator in all other courses and as a speaker in some. He served in various senior positions in the Turkish Thoracic Society and the Turkish Sleep Medicine Association and played a role in shaping the development of both fields.
In 1993, he started working at SSK Ankara Education and Research Hospital. In 1994, he established the Chest Diseases Service and the Sleep Laboratory there. In 2000, he founded the Chest Diseases Training Clinic. He continued his duties as the founding chief as the clinic chief.
After retiring from SSK Dışkapı Hospital, he started working as a Chest Diseases Specialist at Acıbadem Ankara Hospital and continued in this position for a year.
Upon request, he became a faculty member of the Chest Diseases Department at Kars Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine and became a Chest Diseases Professor. He then served as the President of the Chest Diseases Department, the Head of the Internal Medicine Department, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, respectively.
After serving as the Dean of Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine, he worked as a faculty member for a short time at Ardahan University.
Upon the request of İzmir Özel Can Hospital, he became the clinical coordinator of the Chest Diseases and Sleep Center.
He currently works as a specialist in chest diseases and sleep center at Özel Koru Ankara Hospital. His main medical interests include sleep disorders and obstructive lung diseases such as COPD and asthma.
