10 Intestinal Infection Symptoms You Must Know About

An intestinal infection is an inflammation or irritation of the intestines. It may be caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or other microorganisms.

The symptoms of an intestinal infection include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, and fatigue.

    Diarrhea

Diarrhea is usually defined as three or more loose stools within 24 hours. However, some people with diarrhea may only have two loose stools per day. This condition is called watery diarrhea. Other types of diarrhea include bloody diarrhea, mucus diarrhea, and constipation.

    Constipation

If you have diarrhea, you will likely notice frequent bowel movements. In addition, you might also have stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, fever, headache, fatigue, and loss of appetite. These symptoms are common with diarrhea. On the other hand, if you have constipation, you may not feel well at all. You may even have pain in your abdomen, bloating, gas, and difficulty passing stool.

    Abdominal Pain

There are several different kinds of abdominal pain. They can range from mild to severe. Mild abdominal pains usually last less than one week. Severe abdominal pains can last longer than two weeks.

    Vomiting

Other symptoms of an intestinal infection include fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and bloody stools. If you notice any of these symptoms, see your doctor immediately.

    Nausea

Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms of an intestinal infection. They often occur together because the stomach produces more acid when there is an infection. This makes the food less appealing and can cause the body to vomit.
